Week of January 24th

Hello! We are starting on a new book in writing. It is called How To. These will be short stories about how to make or do something. Also, we will have Word Work this week. I have finished testing in reading so I will begin reading with small groups of students again. Our focus will be reading strategies as well as comprehension. In math we will review today and then take the Unit 6 assessment tomorrow. Last, in Social Studies the students will be learning about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

I hope you have a wonderful week! Go Pack Go!

Shortened Week

Happy Tuesday! There will be no Word Work as this is a four day week. We are wrapping up our stories about a Place We Love. Next, we will write a brief How To book. Students will think of an idea to teach us and write it down in steps for us to try (i.e. how to make a peanut butter sandwich).

In reading I am still working on Rigby testing. Please be sure your child is reading at home nightly and answering comprehension questions. When I finish assessing the students I will look at my current reading groups and adjust them accordingly.

This week in math we will be finishing up Unit 6 and either taking the assessment at the end of this week or the beginning of next week.

Also, we will finish our science rotation on Friday. Students were taught about matter: solid, liquid, gas along with Health. This rotation covered two outcomes.

I hope you have an enjoyable week!

This Week

Happy New Year! You should have received the January newsletter last week. Also, I wanted to inform you that this week along with next week there will be no Word Work (spelling). We are just overloaded this week and next week is a four day week.

I will also continue assessing the students with their reading and comprehension levels over these next two weeks.

The students are almost done with their stories in writing. We are currently working on the ending, editing check list and dedication page. We also have to create a cover.

We will continue to work on comparison number stories in math. Please be sure to continue practicing basic math facts at home regularly.

Have a wonderful week and feel free to contact me at any time!
